I'm not an expert on these, but I will try to convey what I know to be correct info. The movement of this watch is marked 3-59, which I believe indicates it was made in the 3rd quarter of 1959. It is the famous 22-jewel caliber 2809, which was based upon Zenith Cal. 135, a chronometer movement that eliminated the center post in order to allow for a much larger balance wheel. Zenith Cal. 135 is quite famous, rare and expensive. It also has a small sub-seconds, whereas the Soviet version seen here is center-seconds. Caliber 2809 is generally recognized as the highest grade wristwatch movement ever made in the Soviet Union.

There were several version of this watch offered throughout the late 1950s and into the 1970s, I seem to recall. This is an early model with top-grade movement. All markings on this watch are in Cyrillic, and indicate it is the Precision Class. Other models had this listed in English (WOSTOK, etc.) rather than Cyrillic--some are export models, this one is a USSR domestic model. Likewise, the case back is marked in Russian rather than English. Other 2809s were sold under brand names such as Almaz, Raketa, and Volna, but I have read that they were not as highly refined as the ВОСТОЌ ПРЕЦИЗИОННЫЕ--WOSTOK Precision Class.

The condition is as you see in the photos. I'm not sure how to classify it other than 'the fair side of good' because, although it is original and complete, there is clear wear to the chrome-plated case and the dial shows marks & age spots. However, this is a nearly 60-year old watch and the original materials used were not very high quality, so there are not a lot of these Precision Class models available in significantly better condition than this one. I placed it on my watch timer (dial down) and it ran for a minute or more at around +9 sec/day. It has not been serviced in the two years I have owned it--I am confident it could be regulated to be quite accurate and reliable once serviced.

FS: Ca. 2005 Tianjin Seagull ST-19 Chronograph – rare model with Chinese-only dial

I am the original owner of this Seagull ST-19, having bought it from Jeff Stanley when he began importing Tianjin chronographs from China around 2005 or 2006.
It has seen sporadic use over the years and is in very good condition. It keeps excellent time and works as it should.
I am selling because it needs a new home…it has spent more than the past decade largely idle in my safe.
 
This is a rare model, which I chose because it was my first purchase of a Chinese-made watch, and it has no English writing on the dial. Apparently the text is a 'motivational quote' from Chairman Mao—I do not recall the details. Please feel free to ask questions. Dimensions are roughly 42mm x 14mm. If you know this movement, you're aware it is a modified version of the Venus 175, a Swiss movement design which the Chinese acquired and produced in Tianjin for their Air Force ca. 1963.

Offered today are a pair of Hamilton Sub 330 watches (ref. 9858) produced in 1994 or earlier. This was a model from the family of watches Hamilton made for the Italian market after a design influenced by the late Gino Macaluso, former owner of Girard-Perregaux and Daniel JeanRichard watch companies. According to Roland of RGM, who worked at Hamilton then, Mr. Macaluso would visit the Hamilton offices in Pennsylvania, and work on creating special pieces that would be manufactured in Switzerland (many by Lemania) and sold in the Italian market, where Mr. Macaluso was Hamilton's distributor. I’ve seen this watch described as Kahki Sub II, but am unsure if that’s an official designation.

The two watches are described below and can be bought individually or as a pair. Please contact me with any questions, offers, etc.

1. The first watch is cased in stainless steel, with a crystal ring and hands of gold. The white dial resembles enamel or lacquer and is very elegant and clean, although some mild ‘tritium burn’ is visible pointing toward the 2:00 marker. Some scratches are visible on the bezel, and mild scuffs upon the crystal, but the case is unpolished and in quite good condition with crisp edges and a nearly scratch-free back. I have tried to capture all of this in the photos below. The uni-directional bezel clicks and rotates very well. I would rate this piece at 80% or better. The dimensions are 39mm wide x 9.5mm thick. It is a very slim and balanced design, powered by the thin 28,800vph ETA cal. 2892-A2. This watch just returned from service and is running very accurately—see the photos below of Timegrapher readings in two positions. Dial, movement crown and case back are marked Hamilton. Non-Hamilton straps in good condition are included, as shown in the photos.

What makes this package special is the presence of the complete set of Hamilton boxes and paperwork, including:

2. The second watch is in 85% or better condition, is running strong (unknown service history), and has a Jubilee-style bracelet installed, with no branding on the clasp. The case and bezel show wear commensurate with age. Case back is very clean. This watch has a 1994 dealer marking on the accompanying booklet; also included is the Hamilton box, and extra links.

In summary, these are examples of a well-known Hamilton model of a size that fits into most everyone's sweet-spot, with very hard-to-find accessories. Many of these were made in the quartz configuration, but the automatics are most sought-after and I don't expect they will be available long.
